DESCRIPTION

The circuit for the driver side - side collision sensor and driver side rear collision sensor (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag (driver side), curtain shield airbag (driver side), SRS seat cushion airbag and rear window curtain shield airbag) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, driver side - side airbag sensor (for front side), driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) and driver side rear airbag sensor.
The driver side - side airbag sensor (for front side), driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) and driver side rear airbag sensor detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1642/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the driver side - side collision sensor and driver side rear collision sensor (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag (driver side), curtain shield airbag (driver side), SRS seat cushion airbag and rear window curtain shield airbag).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and driver side - side airbag sensor (for front side).

    OK:
    The connectors are properly connected.

2.CHECK CONNECTORS

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and driver side - side airbag sensor (for front side).

  1. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and driver side - side airbag sensor (for front side) side) are not damaged.

    OK:
    The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

    1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 8 (BBR+) and 11 (BBR-) of connector B.

      NOTICE:
      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
